Iodine is an essential element for the maintenance of the thyroid gland function in vertebrates and has been used as a medicine for many years. The global demand for iodine is said to be more than 20,000 ton and iodine is presently used in a wide range of industrial fields, such as contrast media, antibacterial and antifungal agents, industrial catalysts, feed additives, pharmaceuticals, stabilizers, salt additives, herbicides, photographic chemicals, pigments, electronic materials, which have independent markets individually. It is recently said that a large market has been growing rapidly in the field of laser printers and OLED as well. Under these conditions, we at Manac have been carrying out development, production, and sales based on iodinated organic compounds. Recently, we have supplied iodinated intermediates of chemicals being used in copy machines and printers. |

In partnership with Godo Shigen Sangyo Co. Ltd., which is a major maker of raw material iodine in Japan that carries out maninly development, production, and sales of iodine-based inorganic compounds, and Mitsui & Co. Ltd., which is a general trading company with global information networks, we have established the Iodo-Finechem Corporation (joint venture) and deployed the iodine compound business under the following concepts.
(1) Through the joint venture with partners having experience in organic and inorganic iodine compounds, we shall achieve the top status of business in the early stages.
(2) Through the joint venture, we shall establish an efficient production system from raw material iodine to new iodine compounds and a recycling system for the iodine recovery from the iodine wastes produced.
(3) Through the joint venture with the general trading company that excels in gathering information, we shall achieve participation in new fields and acquisition of new products in the early stages. |
